Bristol Classic Car Show

Something unusual on this year's stand at the Bristol Show: A 1964 7cwt Pick Up dragged from a barn in Devon by Steve Smeltzer. And I really mean dragged, as all 4 wheels were seized solid and it was necessary to move the car onto and off a trailer on dollies.

On winching the car onto the trailer the back axle parted company with the underfloor, causing the propshaft end to fall out of the splines. It made a spectacular display, still covered in years of what can best be described as excrement. It was parked next to the restored Standard 10 of Mike Lewis, but it was plain to see which vehicle  commanded the most interest.

The Club owes a debt of gratitude to Steve Smeltzer, Mike Lewis, Mike Hearn and Ron Fishlock for building and breaking down the stand.

I really should have been less derogatory about the Pick-Up, because Steve has it for sale. If you would like to make a nominal offer to Steve, it may well become yours....
