Coventry Festival of Motoring

The Club has always supported this event, which for the last 3 years has been held at the Stoneleigh Showground. The good news is that it is free to enter for both Classic Cars and for Joe and Joan Public.

Mike Wilkes, the local organiser got together a good collection of cars over both Saturday and Sunday, though we could have done with a little more room to display them. Mike put his Motorhome in the centre of the stand with his awning and a gazebo up, which was great to shelter under during the frequent downpours.

Lynda and I turned up on the Saturday, when I photographed the selection of cars that you see here. A further selection of Standards were expected on the Sunday.

Highlights on our Stand for me were the Classic Combo of Robin Wilson's Vignale Estate with a period Cheltenham Waterbuck Caravan in matching dual tone colour schemes. Also the Big 9 that  Mike Wilkes is restoring for Mary Pingeriff gathered a lot of attention, as restoration projects do.

As the day progressed, the weather improved and by the evening it was wall to wall sunshine. We were tempted to stay late by offers of coffee and cake in Mike's Motorhome. So late, when we returned to the car, we found we were the last there and we were locked in!

Fortunately we were able to find a nice Security man who had the keys!

Well done Mike Wilkes for organising a great  event!
