On Saturday 30th July 2016 two local members of the Standard Motor Club New Forest Group were invited to exhibit their cars at  the first ever King’s Somborne Cherished Car Show on the recreation ground alongside the annual Flower & Dog Show.

Darrell Cunningham took a 1939 Standard Flying 8 Tourer FLM 35 nicknamed “ STAN “ and Dave Salter drove his 1934 Standard 10 Tickford bodied Drop Head Coupe.

This was the first outing for the Flyer since withdrawing from the London to Brighton run in June with severe clutch and brake problems.

With the help of parts supplied by Brian Parkes & Geoff Winnicott  and engineering by Dave Salter and Alan Tibot the Flyer was again back in running order.

Darrell had the use of a 1936 Salmons light 10/12 Coupe for Shepton Mallet and The International while his car was off the road
