NEC Restoration Show

On Saturday the 12th April three of us  Alan Tibot, Ellis Bates and myself Darrell Cunningham all members of the Standard Motor Club New Forest Group journeyed together to the First Practical Classics RESTORATION SHOW at the NEC Birmingham.

After 2 hours we arrived and easily parked near the entrance.

The show was in halls 1 & 2 and very well laid out. Two seating areas for general use including either eating food and drinks purchased or as we did our own.

Among the attractions were club stands, Silverstone Auctions, a live stage, workshop many trade stands including car jumble.

To us the interesting one was The Barn Find Area where a selection of cars were on show. For me a somewhat shock to find a Vauxhall Viva HA saloon, this being like the first new car I owned and now a classic made me feel ancient.

Then a nice surprise two Standard Vanguards belonging to John Huckle drawn from what must be the largest private collection of Vanguards in the world.

One looking immaculate the other at the start of a renovation.

This made up for the fact that there was no official Club Stand. No doubt this will be a feature next year.

We all enjoyed looking at all parts of the show and being tempted into purchasing items.

In the picnic area we met several other members who had also come to see what the new show was all about.
