Standard - Triumph Marque Day at Prescott Hillclimb

Tyres screaming, Peter Lockley's Standard 8 leaves the starting line at Prescott!

OK, so the picture is "photoshopped" just a little. No one was competing against the clock!

The 2012 Standard Triumph Marque day took place over a weekend in May. On Saturday there was a roadrun around the glorious Cotswolds followed by a buffet in the Buggatti Clubhouse at Prescott. Lubricated  by locally brewed Ales from the Prescott Brewery, everyone was having a wonderfully relaxing time.

Sunday wasn't bright but at least in this summer of record precipitation, it wasn't raining. A small but welcome turnout by the Standard Motor Club, who as usual took pride of place in the paddock. There was a huge turnout of Triumphs All the cars had an opportunity to "test the hill" which some did with more enthusiasm than others - most were clearly not trying to break their cars.

One of the highlights of the day was the posthumous award of the Harry Webster Trophy to Jenny Beadle, widow of the late Tony Beadle. Tony was the first Editor of "Triumph World" and a keen enthusiast of all things Standard Triumph. The HW award is made annually by the S-T Forum for the person who has done the most to further the S-T movement, so Tony was a popular choice to receive the award.

Jenny arrived in Tony's Triumph Courier driven by her son, John and of course the Courier had to go up the hill too!
