"Best in Show" for the North Wales Group
Sunday the 13th May 2012 was the first of the Andrew Greenwood Classic Car Shows at Cholmonderley Castle near Malpas in Cheshire.
This annual event always draws in a huge range of classic and vintage cars, bicycles and commercials and this year was no exception with numerous club stands and over eight hundred vehicles on site.
The North Wales Group celebrated its first show of 2012 with a new gazebo which, unusually for the group . . . . . stayed where it should and didn’t take off disappearing into the distance. This is more than can be said for one of the flagpoles that gave up on life and broke.
Shouldn't there be an engine in there somewhere?
Derek finds a new vocation
The group fielded eleven cars travelling from the far flung reaches of Llanddulas, Rhyl, Warrington, Liverpool and Manchester. Cars included Standards Eights, Vanguards, Big Nine (Yes it moves again!!!!) Nine, Flying Twelve, Nine Special, Triumph Spitfires and an MG Roadster . . . well, there always has to be one!.
All cars arrived safely but the journey for one member was not without its moments. Cliff Heeley deserves the "Determination" award as he managed to get his Basic Eight to the show despite having to change the fuel pump in the middle of Chester whilst avoiding the Chester Half Marathon heading his way!. As usual the club stand drew many admirers throughout the day and once again received the "Best Club Stand in Show" award. This is the fourth consecutive award at this show against some stiff competition.
The sun shone, the wind blew but a wonderful day was had by all, really setting the standard for the year ahead. A huge thank you to all who attended . . . . particularly Reg the dog!
