Prizewinner at the Stamford Show

The Club's Lineup in the watermeadows at Stamford

Conan Lewis has organised a Club stand at the Stamford Show for a number of years now and there is always a good turnout of a variety of Standard models. This year's Show on the August Bank Holiday Sundaywas no exception.

Lynda and I had an easy run up the A1(M) in the Flying 12. The show is held on an island in the the River Welland, right in the centre of the town, so attracts a large number of local visitors and cars from much further afield. Getting onto the island requires navigating over a couple of planks, but it's not as scary as it sounds. The island was wet and muddy in places following our summer of rain but fortunately the Club's stand was on a dry area.

Several members were already there - Stuart and Zena in their new Companion, polished to within an inch of it's life, Roy Gillman in his Vanguard and Paul Newsome in his TR4 amongst them. We were pleased to see Tom Dolb'ys Vanguard Ambulance on it's first outing and Conan was there of course in his Model V3 Kenilworth. He also managed to get his Standard 10 there.

The Vanguard Ambulance is so unusual that I have prepared a separate page so that you can see more of it.

The field was busy all day with lots of interest in our cars.

Later in the afternoon was a prizegiving. Much to Conan's delight, he was awarded "Best Stamford Car" for his Kenilworth
