Standard Big 9 Feature

1931 Standard Big 9 Restoration Story

Frank Williams from the Wirral has rebuilt this Big 9 over a period approaching 20 years. Persistence pays, as you can see by the magnificent results above, pictured at this year's International Rally. The initial  project was, I think you will agree,  pretty much a wreck. Who would think it once looked like the pictures below. You can click on any of them to see a larger version.

Congratulations Frank, you are an inspiration to us all who have a similar project lurking in our garages. Come on guys, it can be done, as Frank has demonstrated to you.

The bodywork: you can see the new metal let into the rear panel. No inner wheel arches yet.

Above: Floor completed

The inside was sufficient to provide patterns

Above: Ready to go for painting

And on the return trip from the painters, things are starting to look decidedly better

Work is never finished of course, there are many small details that Frank would like to complete. But lets face it, all those can be done whilst he is out using the car.

Thank you for the photos.

I am aware that there are other cars and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you have material and photographs, please let me know.  Please send me, Phil Homer, a message at: Phil Homer
