Model SLS used for European Touring

1919 Model SLS

This 1919 Standard Model SLS 2 Seater Tourer was advertised in the Standard Car Review some time ago. It was sold to a member, Kjeld Nielsen in Denmark, who is also the proud owner of a 1934 Standard 9.

Kjeld took the car home and treated the car to an engine rebuild and some other tlc.  Since then he tells me that he has rallied the car extensively to events in Denmark over the summer of 2012. Kjeld and his wife have covered over 2000 kilometres during the year including a Nordic-wide rally that was held in Denmark exclusively for pre-1924 cars

The car which was originally registered XB 5050 in the UK, has performed perfectly and given it's owners great pleasure, as well as showing their Scandinavian friends what a rare Vintage Standard looks like.

Kjeld tells me that he intends to attend the same rally next year, which will this time will be held far away in Norway. I hope that he can send us the photos. I hope to persuade him to bring the car back to England to participate in the 110 years Celebration at Gaydon. and/or the International Rally in the New Forest

I am sure  our members will be delighted to see Kjeld and this car

Here are a couple of other photos of the car.
