Out and About in Washington State

Triumph 10 sleeping in Washington State

Triumph 10 sleeping quietly in a field in Washington State

Hello from Oregon,

Last week I made a short journey east to the Palouse area of eastern Washington state to photograph that wheat-growing area. While driving on a back road one afternoon I rounded a corner and saw the Triumph in the attached picture; I've also left my impression on a short post to my blog, Listening For Thunder. It was certainly one of the last things I expected to see amongst the wheat fields, and I thought to share it with you and your Club.

Bill Stormont

Thanks Bill, it's a Standard really, just badged as a Triumph in the USA. All Standards and Triumphs were build in the same factory in the 1950s and 60's. The factory has gone of course covered by filling stations, a supermarket and "Blockbuster". We don't seem to manufacture much anymore.

I will feature it on the website shortly - who knows, someone may contact you for location, though it does look unsalvable !

If anyone in the USA is interested in learning more about this car or saving it, Bill can be contacted at

As an encouragement, if you would like to see what this car would look like if restored, click here

I am aware that there are other cars and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you have material and photographs, please let me know.  Please send me, Phil Homer, a message at: Phil Homer
