Standard built Gazels in India.
Karl Bhote writes from India:
"These are the Indian designed Gazels....based largely on the Mk3 herald.
First, the mk1 Gazels:
MVL 5160, above, was owned by a friend of mine for over 25 years till last year.
MTK 8142, below, was a runner till 2 years back, but now rots away in a scrapyard...
MTJ 1056,above, was a nice example of a mk1 gazel, but recently has been chopped and made a band wagon! it is used in wedding processions carrying the speakers! Sorry, but this is the only picture that I have of it, in that condition:
Now the Mk2s:
MTJ 4739 was lying in a scrapyard, and was broken up last year.
KA 01 P 1388,below, is a lovely example owned by my friend Ameet Vernekar in Bangalore.
AAU 5280, above and below, is owned by Shyam Krishnamachary and is a fresh restoration.
