1937 Avon Flying Feature

Feature on another 1937 Avon Standard Flying 16/20 Close Coupled Foursome

It seems that whenever I make an assertion that there are only 2 of a particular model, then someone increases the population by 50%,  by finding another example!

Well, it has happened again! I have been sent a photograph of a third Avon on the 1937 Flying 16/20 chassis. This one turned up at the recent Tatton Park event, where the Club appeared for the first time. You can read a report of this interesting event elsewhere on the site, but in the meantime here, above, is the third car. Again, this car is presently fitted with the much later Vanguard Six engine.

The picture above  shows the only two other known surviving cars with this bodywork, together for the very first time!  The two tone grey car at the rear, which belongs to the Club's registrar, has a 16Hp six-cylinder engine, but otherwise the specification is the same. I am indeed very pleased to have a photograph of these two exceptionally rare and handsome cars together.

So - thats all three of them on one webpage now - unless YOU know of any more?

I am aware that there are other cars and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you have material and photographs, please let me know.  Please send me, Phil Homer, a message at: Phil Homer
