An impromptu Devon Group “post Christmas” run thanks to Steve & Karen Lovegrove

What a good idea everyone said, a day out driving around Dartmoor after the Christmas celebrations, a chance to clear the head and give the cars a good run.

What we didn’t count on was the flooding in the South West!! Everyone had a tale to tell about flooding they are seen or experienced., some of it too close for comfort.

But we weren’t going to let a bit of water put us off. After a rethink of which day was going to be the least wet, Sunday 30th was chosen for our trip and Dartmoor was chosen because of its elevated location.

As usual the most popular place to meet was at Okehampton Railway station, where the group of fifteen, enjoyed a hearty breakfast and natter, before setting out.

Some brought their Standards (four) and some brought their healthy appetites and moderns.

After breakfast we enjoyed a run across the moor to the Rowford Reservoir. Luckily the weather held and we had a nice walk around a small part of this pretty spot and visited the newly erected Jubilee sundial, celebrating the Queen’s diamond jubilee.
