Spreading
the Standard Gospel in Germany

Diana and Fritz
the Dog with the Standard 8 in Bavaria
The Standard name is
almost lost on the European Mainland, but one couple trying to
rectify the situation are Dirk and Diana Cornelius who tour Europe
in their Postwar 8 Saloon. Here are two of their encounters. Keep
up the good work please!
Dear Standardfriends,
Last week we went to the
DAVC (Biggest oldtimerclub in Germany) "Deutschlandtreffen"
in Nürnberg (Bavaria) It was a lovely 4 day rally!
Two things we had to explain over and over again to
clubfriends as well as to the visiting public (Saturday
on the Nürnberg main marketplace.....lots of
tourists!) What's a "Standard"?
and what stands "VL" for on your
licenseplate? We enjoyed explaining both a few hunderd
times!
Two weeks earlier we
visited the "Vogtland Fahrzeugfestival" in
Saxonia (former DDR). Same story....nobody
ever heard about a marque Standard...so we
explained.
See you all in a few
weeks at the national,
Friendly regards,
Diana &
Dirk.........and Fritz

The
Standard comes under scrutiny in the former Eastern
Germany, where Trabants are still the more popular
choice, see them in the background?
