Welcome to Standard Cars Online

This page is the Portal through which you can get information about all the Cars made during 60 years of Standard Production:

  • It is believed that the company produced over 200 different models, plus Triumphs, TR's and derivatives in the same factories. Coachbuilders built many more.
  • For a year by year account of production click  "Standard History"
  • To make this portal easier to navigate, I have divided the cars into sections,  related to age, wherever possible:

Edwardian and Vintage Standards

The "Edwardian and Vintage" section deals with the earliest cars from 1903 - 1930

Post Vintage Standards

"Post Vintage" covers the period of enormous growth from 1930 - 1936

Flying  Standards

"Flying Standards" were produced until the war and their postwar derivatives until 1947.

Vanguards and Ensigns

1947 saw the launch of the "Vanguard", which survived in developed forms until 1963.

Standard 8s, 10's Pennants and Companions

In 1953 came the smaller "Eight's, Ten's", then Pennants and Companions

Commercial  Standards

Whilst Standard never produced a distinct Commercial range, there were many "commercial" variants of the cars. Ferguson Tractors are also  included here.

Military  Standards

In both World Wars, Standard produced many aircraft and other "military" products.

Built from Standard Parts

You can read about other manufacturers who made vehicles "Built from Standard Parts" This includes SS, Swallow, Jaguar, Morgan, Railton as well as Triumph and TR.

Coachbuilt on Standard Chassis

Standard components were also the basis of many other "Coachbuilders" products, Tickford, Avon, Salmson,  to name just a few.

In addition we have more Car Features here:

An Indian built Standard 10

"Standards in India" When Standard-Triumph was absorbed into Leyland in 1963, the Standard factory in Madras seemed to be forgotten about. So they just carried on building cars until the mid 80's, The fascinating story of Standards in India can be read here!

"Rust in Peace"

"Rust in Peace" is a depository for Standards that might never be rescued, unless you, dear reader, would really like a challenge?

"What is it?"

What is it? These cars  are probably Standards but we need help identifying them!

"Where is my Standard"

"Where is it" is a  new section for former owners who are trying to find their cars.

  • "Factories" summarises the Standard  production sites both at home and abroad

Factory Photos

  • A series of Photographs of Cars published by the Standard Motor Company
