Standard Ensign used to be in Police Service

Hi Phil

Just to let you know I have just bought a 1958 Standard Ensign. You might think at first nothing interesting about this car but when you realise its probably one of the last surviving ex-Police Ensigns in existence then you look again. It started of life with the Northampton Boro Police. This force took delivery of only 8 Ensigns in 1958 and it is not known how many survive today. They all had the registration prefix JNH on each car of which mine is JNH 702.

The car is in very good order but needs 2 hub caps and its water pump repairing. I intend to get the car back into some sort of Police role and are currently researching its past with the Northamptonshire Police. Here are pictures of her with more of her in the Police hands back in the 50,s to follow.

All the best, Tony Steventon
