1934 Standard 10 Saloon

This 1934 Standard 10 Deluxe has recently been acquired by a Club Member, Steve Smeltzer.

It is in a very sorry state, as it has been left outside for a number of years and the paintwork and leather interior have both suffered, as the accompanying photographs show.

In addition, the engine has a conrod through the side of the engine, so much mechanical work is also required.

The car's fate is unfortunate, as just a few years ago it was in concours condition - and a regular attendee at Standard Motor Club events. Unfortunately, the owner passed away and the car went through a couple of changes of ownership. As we can see, this formerly immaculate car has been badly treated over this period.

This model is unusual in that, for 1934, the company provided both a "Freewheel" and "Startix" automatic restarting, the forerunner of today's "Start/Stop" systems.

Steve is also fortunate to have acquired a contemporary Standard 12Hp engine that he will be able to fit into the car.

We all wish him well and hope he can bring the car back to its former condition.
