1958 Standard Ensign - 330 CTO

by Geoffrey Creighton

My Standard Ensign was built on the 14th of February 1958. The car left the factory in Silver Grey with a red vynide interior.

Many people will have seen this car for the first time on Bangers and Cash, when Mathewson's were selling the car for then club member, Rodney Smith.

Rodney had bought the car after a very long layup and recommissioned her, putting her back on the road now in Powder Blue and roadworthy once again.

The car had two more owners before coming to me, by which time Rodney's respray had suffered from severe micro-blistering. In my care, it has had a bare metal respray in Medici Blue, an original Standard colour, an engine rebuild, a new radiator, new chrome, and an interior refresh

Peter Foster, the Standard Motor Club’s Vanguard Spares Officer supplied most of the parts needed for the Car. This included Pistons and liners, pump, gaskets, bearings, dash parts and much more plus lots of support and advice.

The car returned to the road with a new MOT in January 2021.

Ed: Well done Geoffrey for giving this car a brand new lease of life.
