A picture from a bygone era

Len Barr, writes;

This picture appeared on a well-known internet auction website, and was merely described as "Vintage Motor Car at Folkestone, Kent." I was given the heads up by a friend of mine who works for one of the leading motoring Auction Houses, as he recognised it as an early Standard.

I was successful in bidding on the item and it arrived, well packaged within a few days. The rear of the picture is inscribed with the words "Folkestone 1912"

In 1912 Standard was making both four cylinder and six cylinder cars. Judging by the size of the bonnet, it appears too short to be a six cylinder car, so I am of the opinion that it is the 15.6 H.P. Model: K

A most interesting picture of a bygone age and I am lucky to be able to add it to my collection.

Perhaps any of our readers who live near Folkestone, might recognise the location of the picture? Do write to us, if you do. Contact the club:
