This photo has been sent to me showing a Standard Agents stock of new cars.
The dealer, Queens Motor Garage of Herne Bay.
The Lineup appears to be, from left to right:
Standard 16 Saloon, with wing-mounted Spare
Three Standard big 9 Saloons
A Standard Little 9
On the far right is the most exciting addition of an Avon 16Hp Coupé .
If the bonnets were lifted on the two sixteens then it would be seen that the cars are mechanically identical. The lightweight body on the rakish Coupé would have made the quicker car.
I have included a brochure picture of the Avon so that you can get a better view of it.
All cars are from the 1932-33 Model year and no wonder the Demonstration staff look pleased! The lady clearly has an eye on the Avon!
I hope the cars had already found customers, but surely, such a fine looking selection would have found buyers quite quickly.
Of additional interest, courtesy of Google Street view, we can see the building still exits today as a Tesco express!
