The Standard Register Rally took place over the first Weekend of August based at the Daventry Court Hotel.
Pre 1931 Cars started arriving from Friday afternoon and the participants had time to catch up, before the first formal dinner of the Event.
Saturday was the main driving day, the cars set off on a near 30 mile trip to the Rootes Archive near Banbury, Here there was the opportunity to delve into the factory drawings and Archives, stored and curated by a group of Rootes Association enthusiasts, who maintain this precious resource of factory documentation and memorabilia for the next generation, in their modern factory unit. The Coffee, tea and cakes were especially welcome.
You can read more about the work of the Rootes Archive here: The Rootes Archive - Home
The photos show the early cars all gathered, mainly outside the Rootes Archives.

Then it was off on the next short part of the journey to Gilks Garage Café in nearby Kineton, for a light lunch. Gilks is an automobile -themed restaurant based in a long-established village petrol station/garage.

Due to the popularity of the venue, our party was seated in an outside covered area. Not that we needed to be covered of course, because the weather was glorious. I’m pleased to say that all of the participants completed the round trip without incident.
That evening, 24 participants sat down to a splendid formal dinner in the Daintree Suite at the Hotel.
Sunday Morning
After a leisurely breakfast, the cars and their occupants set off on a short circular roadrun to Barby Nursery for morning coffee, after which the party broke up and set off for home.
The participants would like to thank the organiser, L.en Barr for the Hotel arrangements and Paul Newsome for the Roadrun routes.
A very enjoyable and highly successful weekend!
