Standard Motor Club Monthly Prize Competition - January 2026

In my view, at least, the Competition is easier this month.

So hopefully more of you will be able to recognise this model and maybe the year.

This car is owned by a Swiss Member and is shown outside his garage near Zurich.

Please send your entry to me by 31st January and the winner will receive:

a copy of John Davy’s book of “The Standard Car, 1903-1963

Please send your entries by email to phil.homer@btinternet.com

The answer will be given in February, along with the winner’s name.

Thank you for supporting the Club that supports the Cars we drive.

Commenting has been turned off to avoid anyone spoiling the answer for others.

Good luck to all entrants!

Result of the January SMC Prize Competition

Last month we featured a member of Standard’s management, Walter Belgrove.

Briefly, Walter started his career at Triumph but moved to Standard after the Standard takeover of Triumph. He went on to design the Standard Vanguard. His full career biography is available here: Walter Belgrove

The prizewinner was David Mileham, (again) who was a ST employee in the early 1960’s.

Where were the rest of you Vanguard owners and potential winners?

His prize will be in the post very shortly.Thank you to everyone that entered the Competition.
