Brown from Raglan in South Wales are the proud owners of this 1938
Standard Flying 12 Saloon. No strangers to Standard motoring, they
have restored a Flying Nine and a Selby beforehand, so now have
three Standards to choose from.
This 1938 model has
been subject to a lengthy ground up restoration over the last
several years but is now in regular use to attend rallies and
events. Although its registered in 1938, this is one of a
number of prototypes that were built carrying what became the 1939
model year body. The differences are mainly at the rear, where
there is a notched back and opening boot lid, clearly seen in a
photograph below. Dennis will admit to some problems with
overheating following the rebuild but this seems to have
been resolved following two rebuilds of the waterpump. The car is
now in regular use.
