The Isle of Wight Classic Motor Show is an annual event and this year attracted 600 entrants from across the island, with many coming from the mainland.
Over the two-day weekend, the cars gathered first on Saturday around the harbour in Newport. On Sunday the gathering was all along the Esplanade at Ryde.

Though plagued by frequent rain showers, both events were a resounding success and well attended by the inquisitive general public. Though free for the public, donations were donated to local charities
Navigator and Driver with their award
I am pleased to announce that the Standard Model SLO, was judged to be “Car of the Show”. The Standard was driven over from the mainland on the Lymington to Yarmouth Ferry by Len Barr and his able navigator, Steve Smeltzer. I suspect that the car was also the oldest present, at 102 years old, as we saw nothing any older.
The Mayor presents the prize to Len Barr
The prize was presented by Councillor Michael Lilley, and ex-Mayor of Ryde. The Standard performed faultlessly all over the island’s roads, from Yarmouth to Sandown, Newport and Ryde, and attracted much attention for the Standard marque. They declared it was well worth getting soaked!
